little drummer boy

Come, they told me, pa rum pum pum pum
A new born king to see, pa rum pum pum pum
Our finest gifts we bring, pa rum pum pum pum
To lay before the King, pa rum pum pum pum,
rum pum pum pum, rum pum pum pum,

So to honor Him, pa rum pum pum pum,
When we come.

Little Baby, pa rum pum pum pum
I am a poor boy too, pa rum pum pum pum
I have no gift to bring, pa rum pum pum pum
That's fit to give the King, pa rum pum pum pum,
rum pum pum pum, rum pum pum pum,

Shall I play for you, pa rum pum pum pum,
On my drum?

Mary nodded, pa rum pum pum pum
The ox and lamb kept time, pa rum pum pum pum
I played my drum for Him, pa rum pum pum pum
I played my best for Him, pa rum pum pum pum,
rum pum pum pum, rum pum pum pum,

Then He smiled at me, pa rum pum pum pum
Me and my drum.

This is one of my favorite Christmas songs. I picture myself as the little drummer boy. He is poor and has nothing of material “worldly” worth to give a king.

What do I have worthy to give The One to whom I owe everything?

My life. My everything. My all.

The little drummer boy gave Him his all. He played his drum for Him. He played his best for Him.

Do I use the gifts, talents, possessions and time that my God has given me to honor Him like the little drummer boy? Do I do my best for Him? Do I bring Him glory, praise and honor? Does He look down from heaven and smile at me?

Oh, for the God of the universe to look down from the heavens and smile upon us.

Merry Christmas,
Becky

  1. Just a few weeks ago I was thinking this same thing. I was wondering if I give my all. I don't think I do. My issue is trust!

I think I have done better but I still worry about things that I can't change.

Thank you again for giving me an example of how I can give my all.

I love you Becky and Amy.
