Noah

The LORD saw how great man's wickedness on the earth had become, and that every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil all the time. The LORD was grieved that he had made man on earth, and his heart was filled with pain. Genesis 6:5-6

I wonder if our society today is any different than before the flood. . . better? worse? Every inclination of the thoughts of man's heart was only evil all the time! Man's sin was so great that the LORD wiped out human kind except for Noah and his family.

Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked with God. Genesis 6:9

I love this verse because Noah "walked" with God. He didn't just know God; He had a relationship with Him. And God called him "righteous". Righteous means to act in accord with divine or moral law.

The LORD then said to Noah, "Go into the ark, you and your whole family, because I have found you righteous in this generation." Genesis 7:1

This is my prayer: to be found righteous in this generation. In the midst of our day and times, to live a life that glorifies God, and to "walk" with Him. Not so I can be picked first to hop aboard the "ark" - but to please my Father in heaven by Whom and for Whom I was created!

Noah wasn't perfect. And he wasn't without sin. But I think that when sin desired to have him, more times than not, he conquered it. And the only way I can conquer sin and attempt to live a righteous life is by "walking" with God.

"Never again will I curse the ground because of man, even though every inclination of his heart is evil from childhood. And never again will I destroy all living creatures as I have done. Genesis 8:21

  1. I have to reflect on the "walking" with God part and decide if I am worthy to "walk" with God. Do I give into sin? Do I trust him enough to let him take control? Do I choose good over evil?

I think I do. Sometimes I fall but in my heart I know what's right.

If I walk with God instead of just know God I must try harder to be the best I can be. I do need to trust more and I do need to turn away from temptation.

My prayer is that the Lord will give me the strength to achieve these things that prevent me from "walking" with him. I know him but I want to walk with him. This is my prayer. AMEN

  3. that is an awesome prayer Jen!! it made me pray and think about the things in my life that keep me and distract me from walking with God like i should! none of us are worthy to "walk" with God! but it is by His grace that we are able to do so! thank goodness He accepts us like we are and we don't have to wait until we are "perfect" to walk with Him!
Thank you for your prayer - we love you too!!!

  4. I also feel that before I can "walk" with the Lord, I must be the best form of myself that I can be....but can anyone ever be the best? I feel that we are always growing in ourselves and our spirituality, but God knows when we are striving to be the best so we can feel worthy in his presence. I just have to remember, that unlike anyone else, He will always love us no matter what sins we give in to. His love is so amazing!

  5. I just saw a comment on Kasey's blog and a guy said (this is an almost quote!) that Jesus doesn't love a future version of us, He loves us now! In my mind, I think that I always knew that, but to hear it put that way is kind of mind blowing. I'm sure that doesn't give us a "free pass" spiritually, but He loves me right now, in this very moment with whatever my struggles and downfalls are.
